How can arts, society and culture be better understood and reshaped through technology?
Where ART Thou? is designed as an annual event around the arts and humanities where technology is both a method, a tool of production and communication and a source of inspiration. Engaging with international practitioners and artists across art, film, video-mapping, technology and wider cultural industries, WhAT articulates the challenges and opportunities that artists and cultural managers face in this landscape in advancing new methods on designing cultural projects.
We are happy to announce the second part of our program, happening in Brașov, as a preview to AMURAL #7, in a historical recreation facility where AMURAL will also hold the main stage, with two wonderful guests: László Zsolt Bordos from Hungary (August 18) and Nonotak Studio from France (August 19).
Thursday, August 19, 2021
Venue: Brașov
Guest speaker: Nonotak Studio (France), Complexul Agrement Sub Tâmpa
Nonotak will introduce us to the world of installations and performance, emphasizing the use of light art installations and the design process of their projects: from the very initial conceptual phase to the use of technology for artistic expression.
NONOTAK studio is a collaboration between the illustrator Noemi Schipfer and the architect musician Takami Nakamoto. Commissioned by the Architect Bigoni-Mortemard to create a mural in the lobby of a public housing building in Paris, NONOTAK was created in late 2011.
In early 2013, NONOTAK studio started to work on light and sound installations, creating an ethereal, immersive and dreamlike environment meant to envelop the viewer, capitalizing on Takami Nakamoto’s approach of space & sound, and Noemi Schipfer’s experience in kinetic visuals. They presented their first audiovisual installation at the Mapping Festival in May 2013. In the summer of 2013, NONOTAK come up with a performance, Late Speculation, where they are the creators and contents of the project. Nonotak Studio is also known for the use of custom technologies as well as for the use of common technologies exploited in unusual ways in order to generate various desired effects.
The presentation will be held in English, live at Complexul Agrement Sub Tâmpa. It will also be transmitted live on Facebook.
Where ART Thou? is a program of Rezidenta BRD Scena9 developed in partnership with Amural Festival and Simultan Festival funded through Fundatia9 and EUNIC network in Bucharest.
